Daily J — Rosie's Friend
Daily J return with Rosie’s Friend, a groove-heavy indie-pop track that leans into swirling guitars, warm basslines, and dreamy electronica touches — the kind of song that makes sunset feel cinematic. Written after frontman Jayden Paul quite literally met Rosie’s friend, the track captures charm, longing, and revelation with urgency that stands apart from the band’s usual sea-breeze sound. It’s the first taste of their upcoming Scatterbrains Deluxe (out 5 December), building on the darker tones of their February album while stepping back into the light.
Frank On Tap — Angels Whisper (EP)
Auckland alt-rockers Frank On Tap close out their run of singles with Angels Whisper, the final taste of their forthcoming debut album. A live favourite that’s been in rotation at shows over the past year, now finally captured in studio form. With members hailing from all over Aotearoa, Frank On Tap have been steadily carving out a name for themselves on the NZ indie circuit.
The world is against you — Teeth
Wellington’s The World Is Against You (TWIAY), the project of Thomas Waddington, blends post-punk grit with shoegaze textures on new single Teeth. After emerging in 2024, TWIAY has carved out a place in the capital’s underground with a handful of singles and intense live shows. With a full band lineup translating the noise and melody to the stage, Teeth pushes their sound further into raw, atmospheric territory.
Echomatica — Something
Tāmaki Makaurau dream-pop quartet Echomatica have dropped their second single Something, ahead of their self-titled debut album due October 10. With shimmering synths, hazy beats and emotive vocals, the track blends ambient textures and cinematic layers with sharp guitar work. Drawing influence from Slowdive, Blonde Redhead, and Massive Attack, Echomatica balance elegance and grit, shaping a sound that’s both atmospheric and intimate.
