Roots features a weekly New Music roundup every Friday — shared across Instagram, published on the website, and sent straight to our email list. It’s all about spotlighting fresh indie and alternative sounds from across Aotearoa, especially emerging artists doing their own thing.

New Music Submissions

There’s no cost to submit.

If you’ve got a new release coming up (or just dropped), flick it through. Singles, EPs, albums — all welcome.

When submitting, include:

• Artist name
• Track title
• Cover art
• Release date
• A short bio or press blurb
• Streaming link (Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, etc.)
• Social links (optional but helpful)

Not every submission will be featured, but everything is listened to.

Interviews

Roots runs interviews on a more occasional basis.

Because of that, interview submissions aren’t generally open. Most artists featured in interviews are selected directly based on what fits the platform at the time.
